Denim Fringe Oversized Clutch

Hi handbag lovers! It’s been like, a whole year since we have blogged! Wow! I didn’t realize until I looked at the last post. My, oh my, how time flies!

Welcome to #OnMondaysWeBagBlog, because who doesn’t want to start their week with talking about handbags?! Today I bring to you the classic oversized fringe clutch pattern, but in denim! Fringe is always going to be my thing and quite frankly, so is denim!

I was asked to make this clutch by my sister-in-love, and as soon as she said she wanted an oversized denim clutch, I thought, I know exactly what to make you!

Let’s start with the denim fabric, itself. My initially plan was to use some of the denim fabric I had from a large bolt. The bag still would have been super cute, especially with the added detail. But, as I was rummaging through my pants drawer, I came across a pair of jeans that I loved, but avoided wearing because they just weren’t that perfect fit. Ladies, you know why I mean! Without hesitation, I grabbed that pair of jeans and started cutting into them to make this denim clutch!

The denim fabric is covered in a white floral design. I took one of the back pockets and added it onto the back of the bag, embellishing it with black sequin fabric and a distressed look. The front of the bag features my traditional rollover style with 3 magnetic clasps, to keep the bag closed. The grab handle was made from the waste line of the denim jeans and attached with silver rivets. Last, but the best part of all, I used leftover, darker, denim fabric for the fringe. As the clutch is used, the fringe will begin to fray more and more, giving this clutch an even more distressed look.

Stay tuned for more denim bags (because I do have a few in mind) and for the next #OnMondaysWeBagBlog!

Be sure to drop a comment below and let me know how much you love this bag!
