Different Types of Stabilizers/Reinforcements

Hi Bag Maker! Stabilizing/Reinforcing your bags is a step that ensures your bag is durable and lasts for a lifetime. Below are the products I use for my bag making process.

Pellon

Good for fabric.

Purchase at Hobby Lobby, Walmart, some Michael's stores, and other fabric stores.

  1. 40 Weight - Very lightweight - Good for a very heavy duty denim or canvas that requires minimal support.

  2. 50 Weight - Lightweight - Good for fold over clutches or fabric materials that need slightly extra support.

  3. 926 Weight - Medium - Good for stand up bags that need some structure but still band and give.

  4. 70 Weight - Heavy/Firm - Good for bag bases and ultra structure bags.

  5. SF101 - Iron On - Good for lining fabrics, such as cotton, linen, etc.


Luigi Carnevali

Good for fabric but especially leather.

Purchase at Rocky Mountain Leather Supply.

  1. Microfibra - Medium - Good for body and flaps of bags.

  2. Brio - Firm - Good for base of bag and supporting areas such as straps.

  3. Oslo - Memory Foam - Good for 3D quilting effects and padded straps.

  4. Saba - Padded - Good for straps, flaps, and structure.
